Algie (2016-2019)
“Algie series”, Mixed media, 2016-2019
“Algie” in French or “Algia” in English is used as a suffix meaning “pain”.
It is often used in medical terms, especially in pathologies.
In this series, I mixed collage with cathartic ink drawings. I usually loose myself in drawings guided by music to distract my mind away from the pain.
My intention was to depict the amount of physical / psychological pain and medical struggle I had been enduring for nearly 10 years with no end in sight. It’s a witness to medical loopholes, misdiagnosis, diagnostic delays that leave an individual in pain without any help or relief.
