Wheel of life (2018)
“Wheel of life”, Installation, 2018
It is an installation composed of boxes of pharmaceutical drugs actually ingested by the artist during a complicated health journey. Drippings cover some of the pack. The cardboard pieces rise, enclosing the base of a small dry tree bristling with golden threads. Two half-wheels of a bicycle – or a wheelchair – with spiky spokes runs through the pile. The set evokes the hazard caused by cumulated treatments and the fragile nature of the body. The figure of the artist surveying the construction wanders and gets lost in the meanderings of substances while the base stages a kind of bas-relief, reminiscent of the soldiers of Persepolis, protectors of the building and reference to the artist’s origins.
